  • Romería del Rocío (held on the days leading up to Pentecost). A world famous pilgrimage procession steeped in tradition.

  • San Pedro Fair (around 29 June). Originally a cattle fair, the Feria de San Pedro (San Pedro Fair) consists of rows of stalls on both sides of the fairground area and a street dedicated to traditional activities.

  • Easter brings with it various processions starting on Palm Sunday with La Borriquita (the donkey), carrying on through Holy Wednesday, early Thursday morning, Good Friday and ending with El Santo Entierro (the holy burial) on Saturday afternoon.

  • Saca de las Yeguas (25 and 26 June) A centuries-old tradition in the city of Almonte where Almonte farmers collect the mares and colts grazing on the marshlands, rounding them up through the early hours of the morning, and take them to corrals in the city.

  • Rocío Chico (18 and 19 August). A celebration by the people of Almonte giving thanks to the Virgin of Rocío, which dates back to when the city was saved from an attack by Napoleon's troops in 1813.

  • Festival of Light (first weekend in February). A Marian night-time vigil on Saturday night and the presentation of newborn babies to the Virgin of Rocío.

  • AICAB: This takes places between July and August and consists of a series of equestrian competitions at different venues around the village of El Rocío.
